Electrical Hardware Design Engineer

The Company is a small high technology firm in the suburban Philadelphia area that designs and builds complex electro-mechanical equipment for the aerospace industry. This position is the primary electrical engineer for design of new products and in support of fielded equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Analyze technical requirements, and design electronic control and electrical systems for both new equipment and in support of existing products for the Company’s line of advanced inspection equipment.
  • Generate complete system electrical schematics, Bill of Materials (BOM’s), and test documentation for electrical systems.
  • Specify system electrical components, and any modification of components necessary to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance requirements.
  • Manage drafting/design assistant on multiple projects/workloads, in order to meet required deadlines.
  • Assist in solving electrical and component problems with fielded equipment over the product life cycle.
  • Supervise technicians in troubleshooting problems to component level with electrical lab test tools (multi-meter, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer etc.).

Requirements:

  • BSEE or equivalent degree.
  • 5+ years electrical design and engineering experience.
  • Working knowledge of machine safety and electrical codes.
  • Extensive knowledge of analog, digital, and microprocessor circuitry.
  • Electrical design and layout experience including power distribution, I/O devices, sensors, etc.
  • Experience with motion control devices including stepper/servo motors and drives.
  • Knowledge of C, C ++ necessary, and Linux helpful.
  • Experience with circuit design with I/O intensive microcontrollers.
  • Experience with a schematic capture and PCB layout tools
