Extruder Operator
Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Strictly adheres to Company and Plant safety policies and procedures
- Break down, clean and set up on all dies and restart extruders with no supervision
- Operate the most difficult Extrusion lines with minimal to no assistance
- Minimize the amount of set up time for a particular job
- Troubleshoots downstream equipment problems
- Produces parts from most materials
- Prepares lines for production effectively and efficiently using the help of fellow operators placed on those lines
- Checks line activity sheets, key dimension sheets and reads shop orders
- Produce parts that meet the quality specification at or above specified rate
- Maintain a high degree of accuracy and quality throughout the entire part run
- Able to train Op 2 & Op 3 to develop speed and accuracy in all processes while working in a safe manner
- Is capable of, but not always required to watch two or more Extrusion lines, also must be able to work on the more difficult parts effectively with minimal to no assistance
- Maintains a clean and orderly work environment
- Trains or assists in the training of other operators
- Able to prioritize time to direct and utilize fellow operators time in an effective manner
- Manages materials and minimizes waste
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Must have worked in the extrusion department and have good working knowledge of the extrusion process and materials
- Must be able to communicate in English, both written and verbally
- Must have advanced knowledge of extrusion process and be able to operate an extrusion line with out assistance
- Knows all basic material types utilized in extrusion
- Able to produce parts/products that meet special requirements
Physical Demands
- Able to lift 60 pounds repetitively
- Able to work up to 12 hour rotating shifts
- Able to stand on concrete for extended periods of time
Work Environment
- Be able to work in a production environment
- Able to walk, stand and otherwise perform job functions on concrete floors with safety boots/shoes
- Works in manufacturing environment occasionally being exposed to dust, odors, fumes and noise
