Job Description

Manages and coordinates activities of fabrication personnel in preparing crating solutions for shipment, domestic and international. The manager has the ultimate responsibility of preparing all manufacture and quality of custom crating and packaging containers.

  • Manages activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records; recording accurate weights and dimensions BOL/shipment documentation.
  • Trains workforce on proper fabrication of packaging and crating products
  • Studies and standardizes processes and current practices to improve efficiency of union/non-union direct reports
  • Responsible for adhering to all ISO9001 procedures, work instructions and documentation
  • Issues written and oral instructions to communicate to direct reports
  • Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances
  • Assist in interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing daily work; appraising performance including taking timely disciplinary actions; addressing complaints and resolving problems

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diplomas or equivalent required. Associates Degree or other advanced education strongly preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of proven, progressive job-related experience in woodshop management, cabinet making, wood products manufacturing or related shipping and logistics
  • Prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment
  • Prior experience in a union environment desired

  • Strong communication skills; verbal, written as well as listening skills. Able to successfully communicate to various levels within the organization
  • Possess a high level of professionalism when interacting with employees, management, or outside individuals
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and successfully juggle competing priorities
  • Possess a high level of attention to detail & accuracy, particularly with detailed shipping protocols
  • Possess strong influencing, problem solving and creative thinking skills
  • Possess strong integrity and ethical standards
