Project Engineer

Brief Description

In this role you will lead teams to develop and execute the technical and business objectives for both continuous improvement and capital projects. This position is located at our plant in Tulsa, OK.

Detailed Description

What you'll do:

  • Evaluating proposed projects from a “business sense” viewpoint and recommending appropriate courses of action to upper management
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, sanitation, and government regulations
  • Working cross-functionally to bring direction to complex situations, while providing guidance and advice to project team members
  • Monitoring projects with overall company objectives in mind rather than just meeting detailed requirements
  • Staying current with new technology and processes that could help improve profit margins and recommending applications for this technology
  • Leading project teams, coordinating efforts with other departments, and providing clear communication and direction to ensure customer needs will be met
  • Providing guidance with the development of specifications, capital equipment, and the selection of vendors and contractors
  • Devising testing procedures and trials to verify design concepts
  • Providing technical advice and assistance to internal partners
  • Developing and implementing training programs for team members to help ensure project success
  • Investigating and evaluating new or improved technology/methods for improving our production/distribution systems or facilities
  • Assisting team leader with system-imposed requests as required. (Upper management meetings, personnel issues, technical reviews, lead engineering sessions, advisory help, customer visits, etc.)

Job Requirements

What you will need to succeed:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering and project management is preferred
  • Ability to lead in a team environment
  • Ability to manage others to deliver multiple concurrent projects
  • Understanding of the tactical side of distribution and/or production
  • Ability to understand, evaluate and improve process flows
  • Strong continuous improvement background with the ability to lead/execute continuous improvement projects to successful completion – this includes work-task optimization, process standardization, etc.
  • Superior communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Ability to build internal/external network to achieve goals
  • Excellent understanding of costs/financials
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment
  • End user computer skills
  • Desire to grow and take on new challenges and opportunities
