Job Description


  • Responsible for ensuring that the facility’s domestic and foreign suppliers are in compliance with the FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA); Manage all activities related to supplier food safety and quality assurance to ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements including supplier evaluations, documentation reviews, and hazard analyses
  • Assist with documentation, preparation, and participation of internal and external regulatory and certification audits (e.g. SQF), including corrective actions that may follow
  • Assist with managing the facility’s food safety/HACCP plans, including conducting raw material and finished product hazard analyses and supplier risk assessments to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Assist with overseeing the facility’s Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) program, assist with root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and verification activities. Responsible for trending and tracking CAPAs to identify overdue items, reoccurring deviations, and compliance
  • Assist with hold/release system for finished goods and raw materials; track and trend holds and other issues to identify reoccurring non-conformances or areas for improvement
  • Coordination with other departments and external parties (distributors, vendors, legal counsel, customers) to provide appropriate food safety & quality documentation and additional requests
  • Collaborate with and provide guidance for cross function teams, including Supply Chain, Marketing, Research & Development
  • Responsible for keeping up-to-date, understanding the regulatory environment, interpreting current and pending regulations, and communicating how our products and business are affected
  • Drive continuous improvement in facility’s food safety and quality programs and provide recommendations for food safety, quality, and sanitation processes and improvements


  • S. in Food Science, Biological Sciences, or related preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of food industry, food safety & QA experience
  • Strong knowledge of FDA regulations and application of food safety principles (ex: FSMA HACCP, GMPs, SQF, Allergens, Microbiology)
  • Previous experience in supplier quality assurance in food manufacturing and food supply chains
  • Experience reviewing and writing policies and procedures
  • HACCP and PCQI certification desired
  • Auditing experience desired
  • Experience with SQF or other GFSI schemes desired
